Duplicate Files—Facts about Duplicate Files You Should Know
Have you ever tried to check how many files are there on your hard disk? If not, you can view them by following the steps:
In “My Computer”, click “Tools” > “Folders Options”,
In the tab, click “View”
In the “Advanced settings”, you can choose “Show hidden files and folders” and then you can find the total number of files in your computer. It must be in huge number, definitely.
It is accounted that more than twenty percent of files in the hard disk are unnecessary and excessive for computer. In other word, computer has to expend twenty percent of hard disk space to put those junk files including temporary, swap and duplicate ones.
However, such rubbish is due to users’ casual operations that uninstall software or surfing on the Internet. If the junk is increasing day after day, it is undoubted that your computer speed is slower and slower, even system goes awry. As a result, you should not turn a blind eye to them.
Well, you ought to take some actions to wipe out the junks. As long as you use proper software, it is easy to get rid of useless data and files so as to keep system working smoothly and safely.
Some users may blame that it takes a lot of time to find them one by one, let alone delete them. Indeed, duplicate files are not like temporary ones. It is really time-consuming to find two or more identical files. And even you find them, how many files of them can you remember that you have removed already? At this moment, a powerful duplicate file cleaner can solve all the questions in this regard. Why not have a try?

Slow Speed? Defragment Now
Therefore, besides using anti-virus software to detect the system, you can also use some other methods to solve it. This is what I want to tell you in this article.
Do you find your computer is running slower and slower? But, do you know that even you do not perform any operation, the disk is still working for you as usual? In fact, it is because there are a large number of fragments produced by using the computer.
To be correctly, the fragments should be called files fragments. They are dispersed into different places of the disk discontinuously. In other simple word, any programs’ read-write operation may create fragments in the disk. And in the daily usage, PC users set up, delete and update the files in the disk one after another. As time goes by, there are numerous files fragments heaping which have serious impact on computer performance, waste disk space and lessen its usage.
When running the system may apply some disk spaces to virtual memory. You can right-click “My Computer” to choose “Properties”, in the “Advanced” tab, click “Settings” of “Performance” and then click “Advanced”, you will see how many spaces are used for virtual memory. And, when the system is running, such spaces are occupied and the defragmentation cannot do anything to them. But do not worry, they have little influence on the system performance. It is advisable for you to defragment in the “Safe Mode”, because it is faster to do it.

Optimize Computer Performance—Should I Defragment the Disk Regularly?
Actually, in most cases, regular defragmentation can lessen the abrasion in the hard disk. So, the usage of hard disks, which you defragment once a month or so, is definitely longer than that of you never clean up.
Of course, if you perform such operations excessively, it does harm to your hard disk. Because when defragmenting, it has to conduct in-depth analysis to the disk to decide which data can be removed or not, and then categorize the files. Before arranging such data formally, it may read and write data to other clusters. All of these operations take up a large number of CPU and disk resources.
I think the frequency of defragmentation can not only be judged by the time but also rely on the size of fragment files in the disk. If there are excessive fragment files, it can slow down the read-write speed of files and weaken the computer performance as well. This is the intangible loss of your computer.
All in all, as you are a computer fan, you have to defragment the disk regularly, like once a week or month. It can definitely optimize your computer.

Speed Up Your Computer—How To Optimize Your Window System And Increase PC Performance
There are four steps recommended about how to make conventional optimization to help you in order to optimize your computer system.
Firstly, right-click “My computer” to enter into “System Properties”>“Advanced”>“Error Reporting” and choose “Disable error reporting” and then click “Startup and Recovery”>“Setting”, cross “Write an event to the system log”, “Send an administrative alert” and “Automatically restart” and set “Write debugging information” to “none”.
Secondly, move “My documents” to other districts:
Right-click “My documents”> “Properties”> “Move” and choose a folder outside of the system disks.
Thirdly, move IE temporary folders to other districts:
Open IE browser, click “Tools”> “Internet options” > “General” >”Browsing history”> “Setting” >“Move folder”, and choose the locations outside system disks to save such folders.
Fourthly, start DMA mode in the computer hard drive to speed up the hard disk and your computer performance:
Open “control panel” > “Performance and Maintenance” > “system” > “hardware” > “device manager”, expand the sub-branch of “diskette driver”, double-click the icon of udma hard disk driver into “properties”> “setting” > “options” and tick in the “dma” item. And then click OK to close all dialog boxes and restart your computer.
But, if your computer disk drive is WDC WS1600JS-00NCB1, you may NOT set DMA in diskette drive by the above means. You are supposed to set in “IDE ATA/ATAPT controller”. Pull down the menu, right-click “secondary IDE channel” to choose “properties” > “advanced setting”, and you can set up here. The “main IDE channel” is set in the same way.
The methods mentioned above are just to help you do certain computer optimizations. To holistically increase your PC performance, you need to optimize your registry and clean out invalid, missing and junk registry keys.
Computer Running Slower? Some Tips to Improve Computer Performance
Do you find that your computers are running slower and slower? Most may choose to re-install their systems, and to re-install a large number of applications as well, which cost a lot of time and energy. In fact, it is unnecessary to do so much tough work. Here are some tips for you to speed up your computer without re-installing your system.
First, shut down the special effect in your system properties.
Click "Start"> "Panel Control" > "Performance and Maintenance" >"System" > "Advance" > "Performance" > "Setting", in the "visual effect", you can choose "best performance" then click "OK". This is the easiest way that can speed up computer as well as improve your interface.
In the following two methods, you need to open the "Registry Editor".
Click "Start" > "Run", type "regedit" and you can enter into the "Registry Editor".
Second, accelerate the startup of your system.
In the "Registry Editor", try to find out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/SessionManager/Memory Management/PrefetchParameters, and then change the value from 3 to 1 so that it takes less time for scroll bar to work.
Third, speed up shutting down your computer.
It takes a lot of time to shut down your Windows XP, but if you follow the steps to change your registry, it is faster to shut down your system.
Also in the "Registry Editor", find HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop. In the right window, find "WaitTOKillAppTimeout" and change its value to 1000, which means you just need one second to shut down the application.
And, when encountering "error program" and hard to close down some stop-responding applications automatically, you can also handle them in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop in the "Registry Editor".
a. You can change "HungAppTimeout" to 200 which mean you need to wait for half of a second when the system appears "error program".
b. You can change "AutoEndTasks" to 1 so that the system may shut down the application which stops responding.
